We are delighted to be able to return to the Lammermuir Festival next September for our third visit. In 2024 & 2025 our visits to Lammermuir have been amongst our most popular UK tours.
The Lammermuir Festival was born of a conviction that historic architecture and beautiful landscape together can create an ideal environment in which to experience great music-making. It has received 4 & 5* reviews (Times, Telegraph & Guardian) for performances and in 2017 received the coveted Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) award for Best Concert Series and Festivals – the highest recognition for live classical music in the UK.
The Festival was established to bring the finest musicians together with local people and visitors in celebration of music in towns and villages nestling between the Lammermuir Hills and the sea. The area’s wealth of beautiful buildings continues to inspire the choice of music and artists.
The full concert programme is now published and includes:
- Lucy Crowe in recital including Four Last Songs
- Schubert's Winterreise with Nicholas Mulroy & Jeremy Denk
- Two performances with Tenebrae
- Two performances by the Fibonacci Quartet
- The complete Brahms violin sonatas & scherzo with Chloe Hanslip
- Concerto Copenhagen performing four Haydn symphonies
- a concert performance of Così fan tutte with the Royal Northern Sinfonia
Our tour includes all 13 concerts (except the late night Kurtag) from 11am Monday 14th until and including the 11am Friday 18th September performance.
We have just four rooms remaining - all lower ground floor (but NOT in the basement!!) just overlooking the car park or courtyard.
We stay 5 nights at the Dunmuir Hotel, Dunbar which is between 15 and 30 minutes drive from each of the concerts (all transfers are inclued) and about an hour outside of Edinburgh. For those of you coming from elsewhere in the UK (other than the Northwest and M6 corridor) there is a direct train service with LNER via Berwick-upon-Tweed as well as East Coast mainline trains to Edinburgh with fast connection. Breakfast is included each morning. We will have a three course Welcome Dinner on the 13th and two course meals with wines before each evening performance (in various venues across the region).
We had an excellent dinner at the Dunmuir during our first visit and many of the party asked "can we stay here next time" The hotel has been nicely modernised with rooms arranged across lower ground floor (not basement); ground floor and 1st floor and 2nd
floors. The hotel is located 5 minutes from the East Beach, Dunbar Golf Club and a short walk to the town and Dunbar Train station.
IMPORTANT ROOM INFORMATION
The hotel does NOT have a lift. We are SOLD OUT for the ground floor rooms. We can offer Lower Ground floor (16 steps) rooms with bath and shower over
Full payment will be due at the time of Booking.
