We are delighted to be able to share our plans for two performances at Garsington Opera in the beautiful pastoral setting of the Getty Estate at Wormsley, Buckinghamshire next May. They open their season with a new production of La Traviata and a revival of their 2021 triumph Der Rosenkavalier on consecutive nights. We will take the opportunity to stay three nights in the recently built 'flagship' Premier Inn Oxford Centre, Westgate which has excellent ratings and is less than ten minutes walk from Oriel College and a couple more to the Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Camera.
American director Louisa Muller who will direct La Traviata is quickly rising to prominence for her versatility and work of "complex finesse" (The Guardian). Louisa's recent production of The Turn of the Screw for Garsington Opera was the recipient of a Royal Philharmonic Society Award and named by The Guardian as one of the Top Ten Classical Music Performances of the Year.
Meanwhile the 2021 production by Bruno Ravella of Richard Strauss' Rosenkavalier won 4 & 5* reviews across the board with the Daily Mail headline "Hats off, a triumph: Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier at Garsington Opera is a joy to the ears and a feast for the eyes"
