There is nowhere quite like Vienna during Advent. The Christmas markets are full of life, the atmosphere in the streets is festive in a way that doesn't exist in most other capital cities and the concerts & operetta season is in full swing. Many of Vienna’s squares transform into magical Christmas markets with the aroma of hot punch and Christmas biscuits creating a wonderful atmosphere. Get your Christmas off to an early start and join us for five nights in this wonderful city.
We fly direct from Manchester or Heathrow and stay five nights at the 4* Hotel am Konzerthaus which has an ideal location just off the 'Ringstrasse' and less than 10 minutes walk to the State Opera, Musikverein and Konzerthaus.
During our stay we have tickets included for the following performances (mid stalls) and sightseeing and meals as detailed below:
- Mozart's opera La Finta Giardiniera at the historic 'Kammeroper'
- Juan-Diego Florez concert recital at the Vienna State Opera
- To complete our visit, we will attend an evening in the magnificent Goldensaal of the Musikverein (home of the New Year's Day concert) entitiled 'Christmas in the Musikverein' with a programme of music including:
- Humperdinck : Prelude to Hansel and Gretel
arias by Puccini & Verdi
Mendelsohn : Trumpet Overture in C major, op 101
Liszt : “The Three Kings” from Christ Oratorio
Tchaikovsky : Nutcracker Suite , op.71a - Two morning walking tours in the historic heart of the city (with Kaffee und Kuchen in Vienna's most elegant cafe)
- a morning visit to Klimt & Schiele at the Belvedere Palace
- a morning at the Schönbrunn Palace with apple strudel included!
- Welcome dinner, pre-performance dinners in two of the great dining rooms of the city and a further pre concert dinner.
