Each autumn we head to Glyndebourne for the start of their Glyndebourne Tour period. It's a wonderful chance to hear young and up and coming singers whilst having the full Glyndebourne experience (without the risk of a summer picnic washout!). This year we will attend two performances, Floris Visser’s new production of La bohème (which will have its premiere this summer) and a wonderful 5* reviewed production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro directed by Michael Grandage.
Praised by The Telegraph as, ‘A Figaro of rare grace, naturalness and charm’, this ‘keenly observed’ 2012 production is the latest in a long line of memorable Glyndebourne stagings of Mozart’s opera, stretching back to the Festival’s first ever season in 1934. You can get a flavour of this vibrant production (updated to the 1960's) with this trailer from Glyndebourne https://youtu.be/YnXwLxW9M2Y
Following unanimous approval from our guests we return to the Jury's Waterfront Hotel, located facing the promenade with the charming shops and cafes of the Laines to the rear. The hotel underwent a complete refurbishment in 2017 and rooms are well proportioned with new ensuite bathrooms, flat-screen TV and tea & coffee making facilities. The hotel has a bright spacious lobby with bar and restaurant and it was a big hit with Maestro! clients.
We travel by executive coach from the North West (see pick up points on the Booking Form) and arrive in Brighton late afternoon. We kick off our visit with a welcome dinner this evening.
The break will be escorted throughout and includes:
- luxury coach travel from the Northwest (see booking form for pick up points, some by feeder coach to Knutsford)
- three nights at the 4* Jury's Waterfront Hotel situated on the promenade in the absolute centre of the town with the 'Laines' of Brighton to the rear of the building on a bed & breakfast basis
- top price stall or foyer circle seats for both performances
- welcome dinner with wines on the first evening
- a dinner with wines in the renowned 'Wallop' Restaurant at Gyndebourne after La Boheme
- All transfers to and from Glyndebourne
- a visit to Lewes with free time for lunch before Figaro
