May is a beautiful time to visit Berlin and the Deutsche Oper are presenting a Festival of the Opera's of Richard Wagner including a rare opportunity to see his early opera Rienzi together with recent productions of LohengrinTannhäuser and Der fliegende Holländer. We spend our final evening at the newly re-opened Staatsoper Unter den Linden and a concert with the glorious Georgian mezzo Anita Rachvelishvili conducted by Daniel Barenboim.

We have some excellent Wagnerian singers during our visit including Daniel Johansson and Camila Nylund in Lohengrin (under the baton of Music Director Donald Runnicles); Peter Seiffert and Emma Bell in Tannhäuser; Iain Patterson and Catherine Foster in Holländer and Torsten Kerl taking the title role in Rienzi.

We have secured an excellent block of tickets in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th categories in the stalls. For those of you who have been to the Deutsche Oper before you will recall that the stalls seating has an excellent 'rake' and so all seats have a good view and excellent sound.

The holiday includes 6 nights bed & breakfast at 3* superior Hotel Leonardo, perfectly situated in the old West just a few minutes walk from the Deutsche Oper and close to the Charlottenburg Palace. It is surrounded by a good choice of restaurants and cafes on Wilmersdorferstrasse.

A substantial buffet breakfast is served each morning, a welcome dinner with wines and delicious homemade soup to welcome you back after three of the performances and supper after the Lohengrin. All transfers and three mornings of sightseeing are also included as well as a private tour behind the scenes of the Deutsche Oper and a visit to Potsdam.

Ticket subscriptions for the four performances at the Deutsche Oper are as follows:

flight details from Manchester with Ryanair inc seating and 20kg baggage allowance

Flights are also available from Gatwick, Heathrow and other airports on request.

Deposit is £350 + any ticket supplement. Final balance is due 15th March.

Thank you very much for a most enjoyable visit to Berlin. Not only superb Puccini, but excellent organisation and a couple of wonderful restaurants
