31st March - JUST TWO PLACES REMAINING
2026 marks the 150th anniversary of the first complete Ring cycle at Bayreuth. What better way to celebrate this than at the world's most famous opera house with perhaps the most respected opera director of our day, Sir David McVicar. Add to that an excellent cast lead by Maestro Alexander Soddy including Michael Volle, Camilla Nylund & Klaus Florian Vogt and a 5* hotel in the heart of the city.
The two cycles next year coincide with the Winter Olympics & Para Winter Olympics Milano/Cortina AND the end of Milan Fashion Week, so securing good accommdation in the heart of the city has been a challenge. That being said we are very pleased to have secured rooms at the 5* Rosa Grand Hotel situated in Piazza Fontana just 100 metres from the magnificent Duomo di Milano; 400m from the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and 650m from Teatro alla Scala. Stalls seating for the Ring next year has been divided into Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories. Our seats are in the Bronze category in rows O, P & Q of the Platea (stalls). If you refer to the La Scala image above, the seats are in the 3rd 4th & 5th row after the cross-aisle. We also have a limited number of pairs at either end of the first and second rows (A & B) of the Platea. We have capacity for up to 30 guests on the tour and from our intial registrations we expect to be Sold Out very quickly.
Meals wise, we plan to have a 2 course meal with wines before each of Walküre, Siegfried & Götterdämmerung as all are scheduled to start at 1800h. On our non-Ring days we will dine more substantially and at a more leisurely pace!
On our first full day in Milan we will have a walking tour of the historic centre and on one of our other performance days we will have a visit to the Pinacoteca di Brera. The other two performance days will be left free for you to explore the many wonderful galleries and shops of the city.
On our three non-Ring days we have excursions by private coach to Cremona (and the Stradivari Museum); Pavia (and the magnificent monastery of Certosa di Pavia dating from the mid 15th century) and a day to Lake Como visiting Varenna, Bellagio & the city of Como).
