We are delighted to have the chance to take you to the Lammermuir Festival for their opening weekend this September. No less than 12 mouth-watering performances including Scottish Opera performing Britten's Albert Herring, The Dunedin Consort with countertenor Alexander Chance, Joby Talbot's Path of Miracles with Tenebrae , Goldberg Variations with Roman Rabinovich, Beethoven Piano Trios with the Van Baerle Trio, Jeremy Denk celebrating Charles Ives 150th Birthday and in recital plus performances with the Maxwell Quartet, pianists Susan Tomes, Kenneth Hamilton & Anna Tilbrook, violinist Diana Cohen and tenor Joshua Ellicott. The concerts take place in historic churches and venues across East Lothian in settings such as Dunbar, Haddington, North Berwick and even in the Concorde Hanger of the National Museum of Flight!
The Lammermuir Festival was born of a conviction that historic architecture and beautiful landscape together can create an ideal environment in which to experience great music-making. It has received 4 & 5* reviews (Times, Telegraph & Guardian) for performances and in 2017 received the coveted Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) award for best Concert Series and Festivals – the highest recognition for live classical music in the UK.
The Festival was established to bring the finest musicians together with local people and visitors in celebration of music in towns and villages nestling between the Lammermuir Hills and the sea. The area’s wealth of beautiful buildings continues to inspire the choice of music and artists.
We stay 5 nights at the Premier Inn Newcraighall which is between 15 and 30 minutes drive from each of the concerts and just 20 minutes outside of Edinburgh. Breakfast is included each morning and we will have two course meals before each evening performance. On Saturday evening we will have dinner in the waterside setting of Leith.
We have just 5 days to confirm whether we will attend (as public bookings open on the 12th June). We need a minimum of 20 guests to operate the tour.
