9 Nights: 22 June - 1 July 2019

£1795 per person sharing a twin/double room *PLEASE NOTE – double/twin rooms are made up of one bedframe with two mattresses
£1895 single room (single bed)
£2025 double room for single occupancy

Includes: return flights with Swiss from Manchester, Heathrow or Birmingham to Zurich and private transfers to Bezau, nine nights half board at the Gasthof Sonne, one day escorted introduction to the Vorarlberg & Bregenzerwald, six 1st category tickets for the concerts listed below and concert bus transfers from Bezau to and from each concert

If you've never been to the Schubertiade think of a pretty village (with it's own cablecar) in the Austrian Bregenzerwald, surrounded by beautiful scenery of the Vorarlberg; a charming family run hotel with excellent food (that Maestro clients have been enjoying for the past 17 years); fresh air, lovely walks, cable cars and wonderful leider recitals and chamber music in Schwarzenberg just 20 minutes away by Schubertiade coach.

The Schubertiade Festival takes place twice each summer in the nearby town of Schwarzenberg in the beautiful setting of the Angelika Kauffman Concert Hall with concerts at 11am, 4pm & 8pm most days. The local villages have organised an excellent Schubertiade coach transfer service for all concerts and you will be transfered from the church in Bezau (just 5 minutes walk from the Sonne) 40 minutes prior to each concert and back again afterwards.

This will be our seventeenth year at the Gasthof Sonne with the ‘family Meusburger’. The Sonne is a typical gasthof situated beside a stream just 200 metres flat walk from centre of the village. All rooms have private facilities (some with walk-in shower – please note on your booking form if this is important to you). We have five ‘single’ rooms on allocation which have a single bed and up to 5 double rooms for sole use as well as a further block of double rooms for double or twin use. Just a note on the twins – although they are two separate mattresses with separate duvets, they are within a single wooden bed frame. We can request rooms with balcony or panoramic windows for an additional £90 (per room per stay not per person). If you want to request this please mark it on your Booking Form and we will reconfirm back to you once we hear back from the hotel.

Details of the six included concerts (and four optional ones) are shown below and feature a wonderful array of world-class artists including Sir Andras Schiff, Paul Lewis, Thomas Hampson, Renaud Capuçon, Edgar Moreau & Guillaume Chilemme as well as the Paval Hass Quartet.

Gasthof Sonne in Bezau is your base for nine nights with direct flights from Manchester to Zurich included as well as private coach transfers from Zurich to Bezau and back. 20kg baggage and reserved seats included.

Die Sonne, in classic Austrian gasthof style, is run by Andrea & Christian Meusburger - the third generation of the same family. The hotel features:

• true single rooms with single bed
• double rooms for sole use
• double/twins for two. Please note that the double/twins are made up with a double bedframe and two mattresses.

Some rooms have balcony (on request only at additional cost, limited availability). There is a lift to most rooms but some require one flight of stairs to reach them. Porterage of your luggage in and out is included but please let us know if you have any difficulties in respect of the staircase.

Half board is included and dinner is served either early or late to coincide with concert time.
The holiday is intended to be an unstructured and relaxing break - ideal for those of you who enjoy the fresh air and great outdoors (or just want to relax in a lovely setting and look forward to glorious music in the late afternoon or evenings).

The holiday is a little different to the usual Maestro offering in that apart from an escorted tour on the 3rd day the holiday is very much ‘go as you please’ allowing you to relax on the terrace of the hotel and read or to use your provided ‘travel pass’ and take the local postbus to Lake Constance and Bregenz or as far as Lech or Werth and to ride many of the cable-cars of the region. The local bus links the Seilbahn cable car of Bezau and the cable car at Mellau and stops right outside the hotel. If you love the great outdoors, fresh air, wonderful views and exceptional music this could be the perfect holiday for you. If you’re a shopaholic then perhaps not! Tina Bywater who has attended every Shubertaide for the past 20+ years is happy to assist duing your stay with planning your day to day activities and giving advice.

Concert Information: A total of six Concerts are included- the five shown in bold below plus your choice of one more shown in blue. If you wish to add more from the list the cost is £80 per performance. There are many more concerts during our stay and you can see details using the Schubertiade link below. If there is a particular concert you would like to add please let us know and we will do our best to secure tickets for you.

In the event that you have to cancel we will try and resell the entire package but otherwise we can only return your tickets to the Schubertiade for resale but we will not know what has and has not been sold until after the festival has concluded so any refund of resold tickets will occur in September. As always your organisation and programme in Japan was perfect. The tempura evening was the fitting climax to a splendid fortnight.
