The University of Liverpool and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic have come together to create a new master’s degree that will teach students the key elements of the classical music business. Applications are now being accepted for the programme, which begins in October 2017.
"UK and international students will benefit from our combined industry and academic expertise, developing future generations of music industry professionals, and further enhancing Liverpool’s global status as a UNESCO City of Music," commented RLPO Executive Director for performance and learning Peter Garden.
The one-year course will cover topics including artistic planning, audience development, music education, marketing, communications, fundraising and business models. University of Liverpool will cover the theoretical side, which can then be applied in real-world situations at RLPO.
Mr Garden continued; "The MA has a specific focus on the RLPO…we are excited to share our knowledge, skills and experience through wide-ranging backstage access including lectures by our chief executive and executive team and student work placements across our activities and operations."
