December 30, 2016

Considered by frequent-flyers around the globe as THE outstanding new aircraft of the 21st century the Airbus A350-900 'XWB' arrives in Manchester on Tuesday 17th January operating Singapore Airlines new non-stop services to Singapore and Houston.

The aircraft, which has a range of over 8,000 miles, is fitted with 42 Business class suites, 24 Premium Economy and 187 economy seats. It features Singapore Airlines unique “Companion App” which allows customers the opportunity to choose their in-flight entertainment content prior to their flight in order to create a more personalised experience. Once onboard, passengers may connect their mobile device onto the IFE system, which will sync their preferences onto the screen and automatically play their desired entertainment content throughout the flight! Very 21st century!!

In terms of passenger comforts, the A350 boast a higher cabin humidity, equivalent to that found at an altitude of only 6,000 feet (against 8,000ft on the aircraft we are all familiar with). This translates to a much more comfortable in-flight experience and is shown to help relieve the symptoms of jet-lag.

More than 800 of the new aircraft have been ordered worldwide (including 67 for Singapore Airlines). Singapore have so far taken delivery of 6 aircraft so Manchester is one of the first six worldwide destinations to get the aircraft!
