Join us in March for a 3 night, 4* 'Vienna Express' visit with three performances including Vasily Petrenko conducting the Wiener Symphoniker in the magnificent Great Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus; Rudolf Nureyev's classical choreography for the ballet Raymonda at the Vienna State Opera and a concert in the legendary Goldener Saal of the Musikverein (home of the New Years Day concert).
We stay at the 4* Hotel Hilton Vienna.
The historic 'Ringstrasse' was laid out on the line of the old city walls in the mid to late 19th century. The 'Ring' echos the days of the Habsburg Empire and is home to almost all of the important buildings of the city including the Austrian Parliament, the Vienna Rathaus (Town Hall), the Staatsoper, the Burgtheater, Natural History Museum and the magnificent Hofburg Palace. It encircles the historic heart of 'Old Vienna' where many of the streets and squares are pedestrianised and St Stephens Cathedral marks the centrepoint.
During your stay we have included:
• Return flights Manchester Vienna departing Thursday morning and returning Sunday evening.
• Welcome dinner with wines at an excellent local restaurant in the heart of the city
• one additional dinner at a classic Viennese restaurant with wine included
• lunch at the traditional Viennese Cafe Prueckl
• ‘Café & kuchen’ at a traditional Viennese café
• The classic Rudolf Nureyev choreography of Raymonda (music by Alexander Glazunov) at the Vienna State Opera (stalls rows 14 – 16 included – these seats have proved more popular than higher priced seats further forward because of the excellent ‘rake’ and resulting sight-lines)
